A Marathon of Cheers: Down to Wrestle Supports the Huskies on Home Turf
This past weekend, the Down to Wrestle team had the incredible opportunity to cheer on the University of Saskatchewan Huskie Wrestling Team as they battled it out on home turf. It was a marathon of cheers, energy, and excitement as the Huskies took on the Lethbridge Longhorns, Calgary Dinos, and Alberta Golden Bears in a thrilling series of duals. Our athletes, parents, and volunteers filled the stands, bringing an unmatched level of enthusiasm and support for the Green and White.
The competition was fierce, with so many hard-fought battles on the mat. Several Huskie athletes came away with gold medals, showcasing their incredible dedication and skill. But among all the victories, one moment stood out as truly special. When Down to Wrestle’s own team captain, Donovan, secured gold, he didn’t just celebrate the win for himself—he made it a shared moment. As he stood on the podium, Donovan invited the Down to Wrestle athletes to join him in receiving his gold medal, a powerful display of leadership, inclusion, and the true heart of this program.
Moments like these remind us why Down to Wrestle is about more than just wrestling. It’s about belonging, building confidence, and forging meaningful connections between athletes at every level. Cheering on the Huskies wasn’t just about supporting a team—it was about celebrating the spirit of wrestling, the friendships it creates, and the way it brings people together. Congratulations to all the Huskie wrestlers on their incredible performances, and a huge thank you to Donovan for showing once again what it means to lead both on and off the mat! Go Huskies Go!.
